AV over IP Integrated with Environmental Control System
SC&T’s long-term system integration partner recently completed a boardroom project featuring our AV over IP Solution integrated with an environmental control system via RS232. The control host managed all transmitters and receivers, creating a unified and efficient AV environment. Let’s take a closer look at the system design and its key benefits.

Meeting Room AV Setup
The setup included five HKM02BT-4K transmitters for five signal sources. These were connected to nine HKM02BR-4K receivers through a 1G network switch, forming a 4x2 video wall and a main screen for the meeting host.
Only one transmitter needed to be connected to the environmental control host via RS232. Once connected, the host could control all transmitters and receivers on the network. This allowed the video wall and main screen to select and display any signal source, with flexible layout adjustments as needed, creating a seamless and centralized AV control experience.
System Features
Integration with Environmental Control Systems
SC&T’s AV over IP series supports RS232 connectivity, enabling smooth integration with third-party control systems. By connecting just one transmitter to the control host via RS232, the entire system can be managed over the network. Integrators can upload RS232 command sets into the control system for easy and customized operation.
Cost-Effective 1G Network
Instead of a 10G setup, the system ran on a 1G network using a Zyxel switch—delivering stable video quality while keeping costs down. This approach balanced performance and budget, making it ideal for meeting room applications.
Touch Screen Control
The touch screen connected to the environmental control system allowed users to manage all AV functions with ease. To enhance usability, the interface featured graphical icons representing device types, making it intuitive and user-friendly for non-technical users.
4x2 Video Wall with More than 10 Layouts
Over 10 preset layout scenarios are provided for the 4x2 video wall. Users could easily switch between layouts and assign different sources to each screen segment—ideal for meetings that require simultaneous display of multiple content streams.
Dedicated Receiver for Audio Control
While SC&T’s system supports 3.5mm and HDMI audio output, the customer required greater audio flexibility. To meet this need, an additional receiver (HKM02BR-4K) was dedicated to managing all sound equipment. This allowed audio to be routed directly into the environmental control system, simplifying source switching and system operation.
Smart Hardware Design
Video Wall Bracket
Receivers were placed inside press-type brackets behind the video wall for easy maintenance and protection.
Motorized Main Screen
The main display for the meeting host included a lift mechanism, allowing it to retract into the desk when not in use, controlled via the touch panel.
Under-Table Transmitter Box
To keep the meeting table clean and avoid accidental adjustments, transmitters were installed in a concealed under-table box and only accessed during maintenance.
